Hike at Silver Lake

It has been so hot here lately, so we decided to take a trip up the mountains to cool off and take a hike. 

We decided on Silver Lake up in Big Cottonwood Canyon.  We saw a huge bull moose up there.  He was just lounging around eating food and people watching.

It was pretty close to the boardwalk.  You can see him in the background in this picture with the boys.

 We taught the boys the famous pose that we always do, so we found a rock and took some shots.

 DJ was such a big helper and carried the water pack on his back the entire time, even up the big hills.  The boys liked stopping for water breaks.

 We saw a couple of caterpillars on the ground and had to examine them.

 For part of the our journey this is how we hiked.  DJ refused to be carried most of the way, he is a little hiker!

 We hiked for a mile (most of it up hill) and made it to a pretty lake.

 Daddy took DJ up a rock hill to find a geocash.

We had a great time up in the mountain as a family!

Bounce House

 I took the boys to a bounce house.  Our friend told us about it and we had to try it out!

I was a little worried that they wouldn't want to slide down any of the big slides, boy I was wrong!

 They LOVED all of them!

 After awhile they even got more daring and raised their hands and feet when they slid.

 They went feet first on their tummies too.

 We got a month pass and are so excited to go back soon.

Dates

 Jason and I have decided that we are going to start taking dates every week.  These dates are going to be one on one with the boys.  Today Jason took DJ fishing and I took Alex to dinner, a park, and ice cream.  We see how important it is that we spend time with our kids one-on-one to get to know them, show them we care and love them, and to show that they are special to us.  I am so excited for these date nights!

Daddy and DJ fishing.  The country song comes to mind whenever I see this picture, "And 'he' Thinks We're Just Fishing"  It's all about going out and spending time with your kid and making memories together.

Daddy wanted to have the boys try fish so he brought home the one that his friend caught.  DJ loved it and Alex thought it was okay.

Motorcycle Charity

We got all decked out today in our motorcycle gear, took the boys to Jessi's house, and headed out for a great date!

 I hadn't been on the motorcycle since last season, so this was a big deal for me!

 I am excited to one day drive the motorcycle, so I need a shot of what it is going to be like.

 We were very sore by the end of the day, but were looking forward to dinner and a concert.

 The dinner was delicious and catered by Texas Roadhouse.  Then we went to a small amphitheater to see a concert by Josh Turner.  

 It was a fun concert!

We had such a fun day together.  I love spending time with my hubby!

June Family Dinner

 Our family dinner was at our house this month.  It was too bad because not everyone could make it.  I had some really fun games planned, but when none of the kids were coming over we decided to save them for another day.

 Since the other games were out Jason got out one of his new favorite past times, golf.

Carnival

We decided to go to Westfest for the first time.  We walked over to the carnival and rode some of the rides.  The boys had a lot of fun.

Alex rode the roller coaster.  It was so much fun watching him!  I can't believe how big he has gotten!

 He loved it and actually rode it twice.  DJ didn't want to ride the coaster.

 They had a motorcycle ride and of course the boys had to ride on them!

 DJ wanted to ride in the backseat.

 DJ loved riding the bomber!

 He even tried to shoot me with the gun.  

We were glad that we went out because the boys had such a fun time!

Hogle Zoo

Grandma took us to Hogle Zoo today.

 We love going on adventures with grandma.

 We sat down and watched them train the sea lions and seal.

We watched the polar bear dive for fish. DJ riding the baby polar bear.

 Of course we had to get ice cream.

 We also rode the carousel.  Unfortunately the animals weren't together so I didn't get pictures of everyone riding.  DJ's favorite animal is now a snake so he was so excited to ride one.

 The crocodiles were fun to watch because they were both out in the sun.  One was in the water and the other was opening his mouth on land waiting for prey.

 When going to the zoo you must drink out of the lion's mouth.
