Jason and I planned a get-away for the both of us. We love riding together and seeing the country. We packed up and set off together on our bikes.
Jason did such an amazing job planning the route and getting all the details figured out. One thing you can never count on is the weather, and we had a lot of wet weather! The worst was day 1, we were on a hill that lightning was striking on, and we busted it out of there!
We got wet!
We stopped in the little town on Maybell and waited out the storm. We went to the small store and foudn a delicious treat to enjoy.
We had made it to Colorado!
Jason and I with the storm behind us, it was nasty!
We found a playground to rest on. It was nice to rest our weary bodies from our seats!
We made it out of the storm!
We spent the night in Steamboat Springs at our timeshare. This was the view we got to wake up to, can't beat that!
Day 2 we spent riding through Colorado. We went through Rocky Mountain National Park. What an amazing and beautiful place!
There were many great views and amazing sights.
We rode over the Continental Divide and rode on the highest continuous paved road in North America.
While we stopped and took some pictures we spotted some elk not far up the mountain. What an amazing sight!
That night we stopped at Steak and Shake for dinner. We are a little obsessed with this place, and we don't have any in Utah.
We didn't have any reservations for the night on day 2 so while riding we found a little mountain motel that we stayed at. It was getting late and we were in the mountains and the possibility of wild animals going across the road was too high and we needed to stop. This motel was right out of a scary movie and we weren't sure we would make it through the night, but we are adventurous and took our chances.
The great news is we weren't in a scary movie and were able to continue our trip the next day. After riding for a bit Jason saw that something electrical in his bike was going out. We stopped at a gas station and he was able to find the problem and fix it up. Good thing was it wasn't a big problem, just a circuit wasn't completely connected.
While we were stopped we had to get a couple shots riding the Sinclair dinosaur.
We seemed to be following a dark cloud and had to suit up in our rain gear a couple of times during the trip.
After we got halfway down a certain canyon we decided to pull over and take off our rain gear. As soon as we got it off and took a picture of the scenery the rain started back up.
We pulled up to a KOA and Jason had reserved us a teepee. Who gets to sleep in a teepee?!?! It was actually my favorite night.
We started out the next day and headed out to Arizona, and took a pit-stop at Four Corners. What a fun thing, to be in 4 states at the same time!
We rode past Lake Powell. What an impressive lake!
We spent a lot on time cruising and seeing the beautiful scenery that God has created for us.
We made it to a small town 40 minutes north of Kanab, Utah. We stayed at a cute little bed and breakfast.
After checking into the B&B we ended our night riding through Zions.
This is such an incredible land!
We woke up the next day and I was so excited to get home to see my little men!
It was so great spending 5 days with my best friend. It is funny because when we get time with just us, what do we do, talk about the boys and wish they were with us!
I was so happy to get home and get some cuddle time with my little guys!
I feel very fortunate to have been able to spend great quality time with my husband. Grandma Sue, Grandpa Evan, Jessi, and Anthony thank you so much for watching our boys and doing so many fun things with them to keep them entertained.
What a fun adventure! Adam would be super jealous.
