Day 9 - Birth
We found out about DJ one month before he was born. It was a Friday and we took off of work. We didn't know what to expect or what to do for the day, so we went to the mall and roamed around. I remember receiving the text about his birth and that his mama Breanna and him being healthy. My emotions were so hugh. I couldn't believe that the day had come after our struggles of infertility and waiting 1 1/2 of adopt for me to be a mommy was finally here. I remember the first time walking into the room and seeing my little boy and his birth parents, what a crazy mix of emotions!!!
Alex's story is much different. He was born 3 months premature and had to spend the first couple of months in the hospital. His mama Ashley decided to parent after searching through profiles and not finding the right couple. After 14 months of parenting she found our profile (we had been approved maybe a couple of weeks) she contacted us and I remember the very first picture I ever saw of Alex. The day Alex was 16 months old we signed papers. Again a crazy flood of mixed emotions! He was born in another state so we had to stay there for 10 days getting the ICPC completed.
These little men not only mean the world to me but are so special because they also mean the world to their birth parents.
