We had quite an adventure today! We picked Grandma Sue up early this morning and headed up to the zoo. I don't know how, but this is the first time we have been to the zoo this summer. We were so excited because it was our first time seeing the new exhibit, Rocky Shores. We went so many times last year while they were building this section that we were excited to actually see it finished.
The first animal we saw was a Kookaburra.

We saw all of the monkeys. Then we visited the elephants. They were eating, which was fun to watch. But made it difficult for pictures because they were too far away.
We went to the Asian Highlands and saw all of the neat, big cats. Here is one of the tigers laying in the shade. It was cool how close it was to the glass.
Other tigers got into the water to cool themselves off.
What amazing and beautiful creatures! We went into the reptile house. DJ was really looking forward to seeing snakes. If you look closely you can see the crocodile in the top left-hand picture. DJ and Grandma Sue are looking at a snake.
We really enjoyed the water animals! Here are the River Otters. It is great that they let you see them swimming under the water!
The massive polar bear was one of our favorites! It would get on a rock and dive in the water then pop up right at the glass. What a silly bear! We watched the Grizzly Bears sleeping in a pile.
The long neck giraffes were fun to see. They are now fixing up this section of the zoo, but left a little open so you can still see the giraffes. We had to do a group shot in front of Sammy the Sloth. If you look closely you can see it hanging from the tree.
So much fun! The zoo is always a fun place to spend some time.
